Mods Bring LEGO To Star Wars Battlefront II

Finally, a way to combine LEGO Star Wars and Star Wars Battlefront in the one game.

Here’s a mod by Dulana57 that swaps out DICE’s Yoda for a LEGO one instead:

Love it. Sadly it looks like a lot of work for purely cosmetic results, work few are willing to put in, as I could only find one other LEGO mod for the in-game action itself, these LEGO Battle Droids by EldeBH:

Anyone looking for a nostalgic menu screen, though, can at least install this portrait replacement mod by HighElfArcher.

These are all obviously only for the PC version of the game. And if they’re not LEGO enough for you, remember, there’s a new LEGO Star Wars game coming out next year.

Brisbane’s First Lego-Certified Store Is Opening at Westfield Chermside This Weekend

It includes a mosaic of the Story Bridge, a Pick-a-Brick wall and build-your-own Lego Minifigure stations.

Brisbane’s first Lego-certified retail store is opening in Chermside this Saturday. It follows in the footsteps of other Lego-certified stores around Australia and the world in cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, London, New York and Shanghai. Investment firm Alceon Group is behind the new retail space – it holds the distribution rights for Lego in Australia and New Zealand.

What will you find inside? A shedload of bricks, obviously, with a range of sets for sale that will include hard-to-find products. Otherwise, there will be play tables allowing kids both big and small to get constructing; build-your-own Lego Minifigure stations, where you can customise your own figurine with heads, torsos, legs, hats and accessories; and a Pick-a-Brick wall, which allows punters to buy a quantity of bricks and parts to help complete a special Lego project.

Located on Level 1 of Westfield Chermside, the 205 square metre retail space also draws inspiration from Queensland icons and includes a Story Bridge mosaic hand-made over 337 hours from 137,311 individual bricks, and a 3D “Aussie Adventurer” model that features 70,000 bricks and took 396 hours to build.

The store opens at 9am on Saturday. Customers who spend $199 or more in one transaction will receive a limited-edition Lego Store set, with the first 100 people through the door landing a free gift.

Return to the Moon with Blue Origin’s Rockets and Lunar Lander Made Out of LEGO

Indulge your inner man-child (or woman-child) with these LEGO versions of the Blue Origin Blue Moon lunar lander, New Glenn rocket, and launch tower. This new design is currently gathering supporters on the LEGO Ideas website. If it gets enough supporters, LEGO will review it and possibly build it.

The kit is based around the Blue Origin effort to get to the Moon. It features their New Glenn reusable rocket, the launch tower, and the Blue Moon lunar lander. The kit also includes a large rover, four mini-rovers, and a satellite to deploy on the way.

The complete kit, including the optional rocket stand, is over 2700 pieces, and includes over 50 decals. The New Glenn rocket is over 101 cm (40 inches) tall. The kit was created by Valerie Roche and Matthew Nolan, co-creators of the Saturn V set and the SpaceX Ultimate Collection and Starship-Super Heavy LEGO sets.

On the LEGO Ideas site, designers pitch their ideas for LEGO kits and try to gain supporters. If they get 10,000 supporters, then the LEGO company will review it and may decide to build it. Valerie and Matthew’s Saturn V set passed the threshold and is available to purchase.

“It’s rare to hit the magic 10k, but with the enormous public interest in space currently, every rocket project we’ve submitted to date has made it!”

The new Blue Origin set has 1700 supporters, and there’s lots of time to show your support. Valerie and Matthew’s Saturn V set was a huge hit, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

The duo have a track record of successful LEGO designs. Matthew Nolan told Universe Today: “It’s rare to hit the magic 10k, but with the enormous public interest in space currently, every rocket project we’ve submitted to date has made it! The team at Blue Origin have gotten behind us, giving fantastic support and encouragement.”

Lego Pays Homage To Its Heritage With A Wonderful Wooden Minifig

The 5:1 scale minifig is strictly limited edition, and celebrates the company’s heritage as a wooden toy maker

Leog 5:1 scale wooden minifig

In 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, founder of The Lego Group, started making and selling wooden toys out of his shop in Billund, Denmark. The company continued making wooden toys until 1960, two years after the Lego brick as we know it today was born. Now The Lego Group celebrates old and new with a seven inch tall, $US120 ($174) minifigure made out of wood. Well, except for the hands.

The Lego Originals Wooden Minifigure, available starting November 3 at, is not so much a toy as it is a collectible art piece. Crafted from real oak, other than the hands, which are plastic for gripability purposes, the piece neatly sums up the whole of Lego history.

It’s a 5:1 scale minifigure (meaning it’s five times bigger than normal) of the classic minifigure design, but made from FSC Certified oak, with plastic iconic yellow hands.

It comes with a small collection of Lego bricks, which can be built into a few different accessories for it to hold, including a guitar, a camera, and a pen. Obviously, you can also build anything else you want to accessorise it with using more bricks from your collection.

Customisation is the name of the game, actually. Part of the idea is that you can have it as just a beautiful wooden decoration like it comes – as we said, it’s currently planned to be strictly limited edition, and it comes in a premium gift box, so it’ll be a great collectible for Lego nuts – but Lego also encourages you to make it your own.

Paint it, dress it up, build Lego creations around it – do whatever you like, really. It’s a really fun way to celebrate over 40 years of the Lego minifig, and the origins of everyone’s favourite Danish brick maker.

Will Arnett to Host Unscripted Competition Series ‘LEGO Masters’ for FOX

For the amateur architect within us all, LEGO Masters is on the way from FOX, to be hosted by gravelly voiced comic actor Will Arnett. The unscripted competition reality series is based on the British series of the same name. Each episode will feature pairs of LEGO enthusiasts going head-to-head in building challenges. All the while, Arnett and a panel of expert judges (go figure) will provide encouragement to the builders, and introduce new challenges. In the end, one duo will hold the title of LEGO Masters.

Not holding the title of LEGO Masters are children who leave LEGO pieces on the floor, in the paths of their barefooted, unsuspecting parents.

Said FOX’s Alternative Entertainment and Specials President, Rob Wade of the show:

“This show is an hour of fun for the whole family and Will is the ideal host. He’s already a member of the LEGO family and his passion for this show is infectious. He’s also a great collaborator and, let’s be honest, he’s hilarious – which makes him perfect for this competition.”

Image via Warner Bros.

Arnett, who will also serve as an executive producer, is no LEGO novice. He famously voiced the funniest Batman there ever was in The LEGO MovieThe LEGO Batman MovieThe LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, and The LEGO Batman Movie 2, coming in 2022. The Arrested Development veteran can currently be heard voicing the titular character on Netflix’s BoJack Horseman.

“It gives me piece of mind to be able to continue building my relationship with The LEGO Group,” Arnett said. “Ultimately, my goal is Danish citizenship.”

Here’s an official synopsis from the network:

Based on the hit British reality-competition series of the same name, LEGO MASTERS brings imagination, design and creativity to life when teams of LEGO enthusiasts go head-to-head, with infinite possibilities and an unlimited supply of LEGO bricks. Teams of two will compete against each other in ambitious brick-building challenges to be crowned the country’s most talented amateur LEGO builders. In each episode, the competing pairs who impress the judges the most will progress to the next round, until the finale, during which the top teams will face off for a cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy and the grand title of LEGO MASTERS.

The show premieres Wednesday, February 5 on FOX.

Lego Billionaire Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen Builds New ‘Campus’—With Bricks

Lego has announced the opening of a new campus in Billund, Denmark, inspired by a painting of the toymaker’s famous plastic blocks in billionaire owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen’s office.

The first phase of the quirky C.F. Møller Architects-designed project, which when completed in 2021 will span 54,000 square meters and will house 2,000 Lego staff, opened on October 28. Lego-style bricks appear in the exterior walls and two gigantic yellow blocks are perched on the roof.

Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the Lego Group, said that the workspace “reflects our values” and “instills a sense of fun.” Adding, “Our mission is to inspire children so it’s important we provide our talented colleagues with an environment that is playful and inspires creativity and innovative thinking.”

The Lego Group was founded in Denmark in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. Its name comes from the Danish words LEg GOdt, which mean “play well.” Nowadays ownership of a 75% stake in Lego is split evenly between Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, Sofie Kirk KristiansenThomas Kirk Kristiansen and Agnete Kirk Thinggaard.

The new campus has a focus on sustainability and Lego confirmed that builders have covered the roof of the nearby parking garage with 4,150 solar panels to produce more than 1 million kWh, which will supply half of the energy of the campus.

The Danish toymaker has largely weathered a growing consumer backlash against plastic-based products but continues to trial initiatives to bolster its sustainability record. Lego has invested $110 million (1 billion Danish kroner) in a project to replace petroleum in its construction blocks by 2030 and unveiled a pilot scheme for bricks to be recycled in the United States earlier this month.

Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen said in 2016 his mission was to “inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow”  but promised a “continued ambition to leave a positive impact on the planet, which future generations will inherit.”
